What is the role of the BBFC and why are they important to the film industry?

The BBFC is the shorten version of  British Board of Film Classification, they are  highly expert and experiences regulator in films. They provide protection for the viewers, especially children and they protect them from disturbing images which might raise their risks. They also provide information for parents alerting them on the harms of the movie, so that they make right choices on viewing the films.

They also play the part as they judge films and decided whether the films are suitable to be released in the cinemas or not. they also give the films the perfect ratings such as U,PG,15,12,12A,18, they report scenes that are inappropriate to the audience and get the producers to cut those scenes or just banned the films completely.

Spiderman was originally rated a PG but then Parents started complaining that the film was too violent for their kids as spiderman had a very controversial narrative. due to this the BBFC then decided to change the rating from PG to 12A, which meant that those under 12 could only watch it if they where with an adult.


what age certificates to thrillers seem to get and why?


The age certificates that thrillers tend to get are 15 and above because they usually contain disturbing scenes, violence, sexual acts that people under 15 will not be able to digest or watch. But even though the rating is 15 what is shown is still limited compare to what would we shown if the movie was an 18 plus, 15 would contain a bit of inappropriate language,  not much sexual content, and  not much shown on the abuse of drugs. Even for those 18 and over there is still limited content shown, due to the capability of what a human could tolerate.


What Age Certificate would you give your thriller?
For my thriller I would give it a 15

The research that is shown above has helped me, understand more about Age certificates and how they work. in my own thriller I would need to consider what I would put in it and if it would be appropriate for my 15 plus viewers.
